What is residential treatment

Not just a place to stay. A structured environment built for change.

Residential treatment means living at the treatment center for the duration of your program. It is the most intensive and clinically supported level of care in addiction treatment and the one with the strongest outcomes data.

Living at the center removes you from the environment, relationships and triggers that have reinforced the addiction. It creates the conditions for something genuinely new to take hold. And it puts a full clinical team around you every day rather than for one or two hours a week.

At CRTC residential treatment is not a holding environment. It is an active, purposeful and deeply individualized clinical experience from the first day to the last.

How it works at CRTC

Built around you. Not around a program.

When you arrive at CRTC our clinical team begins an evaluation period that involves multiple professional perspectives.

Clinical psychology, psychiatry, medicine, occupational therapy and counseling all contribute to understanding who you are before anything else is decided.

Your treatment plan

Not a standard plan adapted slightly. Something genuinely built for you.

From that evaluation we build an individualized treatment plan. Your history, your mental health, your trauma, your patterns, your relationships, your strengths and your obstacles all shape the plan.

The therapeutic approach

What we use with you depends on what we learn about you

The clinical program draws from CBT, DBT, EMDR, Motivational Enhancement Therapy, Transactional Analysis, 12-Step facilitation, SMART Recovery, Refuge Recovery, somatic work, mindfulness, breathwork, yoga, forest bathing, sound therapy, adventure therapy, family therapy, psychoeducation and integrative recovery.

A typical day

Every day has shape. Every day has purpose.

No two days are identical because no two patients are identical.

Your schedule evolves as your treatment evolves, but every day holds the same intention: meaningful clinical work alongside genuine restoration.

Mornings

Mornings often begin with movement. Yoga, breathwork or time in nature before the clinical day begins.

Mid-day

Individual therapy, group sessions, psychiatric support and specialized therapeutic work fill the core of each day.

Afternoons

Afternoons may include holistic modalities, adventure activities in the Costa Rican landscape or quieter restorative practices.

Evenings

Evenings are for reflection, community and rest.

As treatment progresses, real-world reintegration is woven in gradually. By the time you leave, recovery is not something you have talked about. It is something you have practiced.

Built from the inside

A team that knows this journey

CRTC began with our founder's own recovery, and with the gaps he found in the care he received.

Today the program is run by a multidisciplinary team: an addiction psychiatrist, physicians, clinical psychologists, counselors and holistic therapists, alongside an admissions team that answers every call. When you reach out you are not talking to a call center. You are talking to people who do this work every day and understand where you are right now.

Program length

30, 60, 90 or 120 days. Based on what you need.

The average length of stay across both centers is 60 to 90 days.

The right length depends on the substance, the severity of the dependency, any co-occurring conditions and what the clinical team observes during the program. We will give you an honest recommendation based on what we learn about your specific situation.

01 30-day program

The minimum residential stay. Appropriate for lower-severity cases or as a first step for clients who cannot commit to a longer program initially.

02 60-day program

The most common starting point. Sufficient time for detox, deep clinical work and the beginning of real reintegration practice.

03 90-day program

Recommended for more complex cases, longer histories of dependency or presentations with significant co-occurring conditions.

04 120-day program

The signature CRTC program covering all four phases. Required to qualify for the 30-day guarantee.

Their words. Their journey.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about residential treatment at CRTC

How is CRTC different from other residential programs?

Most residential programs apply a standard protocol to everyone. At CRTC every treatment plan is built from a thorough multidisciplinary evaluation specific to that patient. The therapeutic approach, the modalities used and the pace of treatment all reflect the individual. Not a standard program applied to everyone.

What is the typical length of stay?

Our programs run at 30, 60, 90 and 120 days. The average length of stay is 60 to 90 days. The right length depends on the substance, severity and any co-occurring conditions. Our team will give you an honest recommendation.

What does all-inclusive mean?

All meals, clinical programming, individual therapy, group therapy, psychiatric support, holistic modalities, adventure therapy, Integrative Recovery services and airport transfer are included in the monthly fee.

Can my family be involved during residential treatment?

Yes. Family therapy is a formal part of the clinical program. We schedule sessions around distance and time zones so family participation is practical. We also maintain regular communication with designated family contacts throughout treatment.

What happens when residential treatment ends?

Residential flows directly into reintegration and then into aftercare support. The same team stays with you. Nothing starts over.

Do you accept insurance?

CRTC is a private pay center. We assist clients in navigating out-of-network PPO reimbursement claims where applicable.
