Our Staff - Costa Rica Treatment Center



Costa Rica Treatment Center works with hand selected professionals that comprise the most experienced multidisciplinary team in the country. Each team member is highly qualified by education, experience, and training.

Our clinically diverse team is comprised of licensed addiction therapists, physicians, psychiatrists, doctors, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists and addiction counselors. Each member of the team demonstrates in-depth knowledge of addiction recovery and chemical dependency. Each member serves as an integral part of the overall treatment team.


At Costa Rica Treatment Center our culture is centered on genuine ‘connection’ and a sense of greater purpose. We love what we do and are committed in the delivery of the most effective treatment programs available. We’ve been able to achieve our amazing results through a collaborative effort – our staff culture permeates into the client’s experience. In short, when you are here you are family. Most of our former clients become friends and remain in close contact with our staff for years to come.

Dr. Karla Uriarte
Doctor - Code 13412
She brings to Costa Rica Treatment Center a diverse medical background. She has extensive experience treating complex medical issues and uses holistic approaches to promote optimal overall health and well-being for all our clients.
Dr. Enrique Madrigal Segura
Psychiatrist - Code MED883
Dr. Madrigal has extensive experience in Clinical Psychiatry and Mental Health, Substance Abuse Unit and participated in the development of assistance and prevention programs, as well as research and teaching at the Faculty of Medicine, Chair of Psychiatry Both in Costa Rica, in New York and Washington DC.

Addictions Psychiatrist
He supports Costa Rica Treatment Center in the field of Psychiatry. His expertise in the medical field combined with a deep understanding of addictions treatment and a strong passion for helping people with substance abuse.
Dr. Mauricio Campos Campos
Psychiatrist, MD
He is a Medical specialist in Psychiatry. He is the Founder of the Costa Rican Association for the Study and Prevention of Suicide (ACEPS). Member of the Latin American Network of Suicidologies and Coordinator of the Chapter for the Prevention of Suicide of the ASOCOPSI.
Dr. Viviana Herrera Rojas
Dr. Viviana Herrera graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University Latina of Costa Rica. She has broad experience treating a wide variety of medical pathologies, both chronic and acute.
Gabriela Alvarado Villalobos
Art Therapist
Master in Educational Psychology and Plastic Artist with more than 20 years of experience in Costa Rica’s education system, focused on special educational needs. She has worked as university professor, principal, and in private psychological therapy.
Marianna Charpentier
Clinical Psychologist + Family therapist
Graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelors in Psychology in 2005 and with a Masters in Marital and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego in 2008 .
Tony Feeney
Addiction Recovery Specialist
As a person in long term recovery, He has been working to help people find recovery from addiction in some fashion for 13 + years either as a sponsor, mentor, or as a professional in clinical environments.  At CRTC he works to formulate practical, action-based plans to transition our clients into healthier states of mental and emotional processing.
María Jesús Sánchez Brenes
Occupational Therapist
As an Occupational Therapist her goal is to help clients to get to know themselves better and to be able to identify their expectations with treatment and life in general. She aids in the development of their functional abilities and guides them during the process of creating a plan geared to helping them achieve the life they want.
Jimena Gallegos
Clinical Psychologist + EMDR Therapist
Jimena is a Clinical Psychologist and EMDR Therapist of Iberoamerica and EMDRIA, and TREC therapist of the Institute of Albert Ellis, New York. Her experience in the treatment of complex trauma, attachment disorders, family disturbance, depression, anxiety, brings a new approach to the treatment of addictions.
Paola Cravioto Pacheco
Clinical Director + Psychologist - Code 6803
M.Ps.C Paola Cravioto is our clinical director and her responsibilities include clinical supervision of the cases being handled by the team, creating and overseeing the curriculum for the program and observing that the program is being adequately applied with every one of our clients.
Angie Encina
Licensed Psychologist & Hypnotherapist
Angie graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2010. Since then she has worked and trained as a therapist, hypnotherapist and meditation coach in hospitals and private clinics in both Canada and Chile. Angie brings with her a unique approach to the rehabilitation process at the Costa Rica Treatment Center.
Cristina Herrera
Social Worker - Code 3444
Cristina is responsible for working on family-related issues and social-emotional relationships providing an integral treatment for CRTC patients. Her goal is to help patients align themselves with acceptable social norms and integrate successfully into normal social life.
Ernesto Leon
Operations Manager
Ernesto supervises center operations ensuring the administrative aspects of our company run smoothly on a day to day basis. As an active member of the local recovery community he brings with him a unique and empathetic perspective to his role. As part of his duties, he spends a lot of time with clients and is always willing to be of service to them; regularly going above and beyond the scope of his duties.
Robert Woolf
With a BS in Business Administration now retired, Robert continues working part-time supporting fellow addicts/ alcoholics discover recovery through sharing his experiences, strength and hopes. He's a pillar of the local recovery community by regular mentoring and sponsorship's.
Vanessa Arévalo
Vanessa graduated from Instituto Superior Mariano Moreno in Argentina. She has broad experience in Peruvian cuisine, her specialty is fish and seafood, and she is well versed in meats and pastas. She has worked internationally in restaurants in Argentina, Panamá, Perú, Colombia and Costa Rica.
Kenyatta Bell
Sound Therapist + Yoga Teacher
Sound Therapy is a modern healing modality rooted in ancient cultural practices that harnesses vibration to bring about relaxation and stimulate healing. Sound vibrations are not just heard, but they are also felt. A one hour sound bath reduces emotional stress, anxiety and alleviates physical discomfort.
Maricruz Prada
Yoga Instructor
Certified teacher of Vinyasa yoga with over 200 hours in Yin Yoga and over 50 hours in Krama Yoga. Maricruz has more than 5 years of practicing yoga professionaly under her belt. Experiences ranging from group to individual classes.
Manuela Siegfried
Certified Forest Therapist
Certified in the concept of Shinrin Yoku and the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy. She has been guiding very actively and helps people awaken their senses as well as slow down in a natural setting so one can reconnect with themselve and the more than human world.
Jimena Anchía
Jimena is the person in charge of the supervision of our patients during night shift, available to them to make them feel safe in case of any emergency. With her open door policy she is available at any time to our clients. In her free time she is studying professional business English to even further her current fluent abilities, besides training her favorite sports: Jujutsu and Cross-fit.
Yorleny Marín
Yorleny has been with us since our inception and is in charge of maintaining areas of the center clean and organized. Her commitment to ensuring our clients have a comfortable area to recover is filled with enthusiasm and positive energy. She supervises general housekeeping and laundry services.
Sonia Salgado
Sonia is the maintenance officer at Costa Rica Treatment Center. She ensures our clients enjoy a clean and inspiring space where they can practice their recovery program. With her positive energy she also ensures our clients feel welcome and at home.
